Upgrading Memory
Posted in Idling on 06/22/2007 05:48 pm by foolhandyA fortnight after quadrupling the memory to 2GB in my PC so that Vista worked properly I’ve doubled the memory in my Mac to 2GB so that OSX and XP will work together properly when running Parallels. Both were painless operations but whereas I’ve changed the memory in PCs many times I was relieved when it came to my Mac to find the following video* by which showed me how to do it, and this blog post which reassured me that you really do need to use that much pressure to get them home.
How did people know how to do things before the internet?
*It’s not a fascinating video by any means and there’ll be no Oscars won for voice talents, but it was very useful and so I post it here for all who might need to see it. Oddly, whilst doing this myself I reached for the first coin I found in my odds and ends drawer to use to unlock the casing. It was a quarter. I have no idea how I’ve come to have this so easily to hand when it’s nearly four years since I was in the US…

I had to upgrade my new computer to run Vista too. But now that I have (to 1.5 gbs), it’s the business!

It’s amazing the difference it makes.
